After 19 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, Davids leads SMT’s robust development platform, overseeing strategic development activities, permitting, interconnection, engineering, procurement, budget, and schedule.
David has had P&L responsibility for over $1B of solar / storage projects assets, where he led the projects from land acquisition to final completion. His career highlights include overseeing half of sPowers portfolio execution, including the Spotsylvania Solar Energy Center, a 620 MWDC PV project in Virginia, one of the most significant solar projects in the United States. Under his leadership, sPower’s finance team closed over $1BN in project financing and PFI’s “Deal of the Year” award in 2020. David also founded and successfully exited two solar companies, Solar Engineering Group, and Scout Solar – in addition to many other successes in the industry.
Today, David brings his vast experience and numerous accomplishments to bear as a charismatic and visionary leader driving growth for SMT.
John’s visionary and strategic leadership is a primary driving force behind SMT’s meteoric expansion in the field of fully merchant BESS.
With over a decade of experience, John has established himself as a key player in the industry. He spearheaded the development of over 100 MW of photovoltaic (PV) and ESS projects for Lodestar Energy, where he served as Partner and General Counsel; previously he was responsible for $500 million worth of off-campus student housing assets. His specialties include structured finance, tax equity, opportunity zone fund formation, and M&A transactions.
Today, John brings his expertise to the strategy and execution of SMT’s portfolio, from operational organization to legal review, and far beyond.

With over 15 years of experience in the energy industry, Kevin has dedicated a decade to renewable development and construction, using his wealth of knowledge to construct assets with the highest availability in the industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and has held engineering and management positions at industry giants Tesla Energy and Lodestar Energy.
Now Kevin overseas the construction, engineering and operation teams responsible for new and existing assets at SMT, delivering results that speak for themselves.
Chris is an opportunity creator for SMT Energy and its stakeholders, developing business from concept to revenue.
He is a highly accomplished professional with an impressive record of success in the energy industry. Since 2021, Chris has secured a portfolio of more than 2 gigawatts of BESS; before joining forces with SMT, he worked with Fortune 1000 energy companies to secure over 25,000 acres for development.
Today, he is SMT’s resident expert when it comes to selecting sites, acquiring land, and building strong relationships with owners, communities, and city officials. Outside of work, Chris can often be found enthusiastically exploring nature with his family.
Stephanie is our indispensable bookkeeper. She maintains SMT’s finances with the highest
standards of professionalism and excellence.
Although new to the energy field, Stephanie is eager to contribute to all operations. She brings
a Business Administration degree, several years of bookkeeping experience, and an incredibly diverse background to the table.
Today Stephanie ensures SMT’s finances are kept in perfect order and compliance by updating
our books daily, performing reconciliations, and accounting for every penny’s whereabouts. She
resides in Long Island, NY, with her two children who share her passion for animal rescue.
As the dynamic force behind SMT Energy’s commercial efforts, Miguel spearheads our expansion across the US and manages our operating fleet with electrifying purpose and ingenuity.
He brings more than 20 years of stellar power generation experience to SMT, specializing in commercial strategy, asset optimization, mergers and acquisitions, capital deployment, and commodity risk management.
Miguel served as the head of the commercial team for Riverstone Holdings’ conventional power platform, Extol Energy – shaping the commercial strategies of RJS Power Holdings and Talen Energy. He also led the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) team for EDF Trading.
Today, his unique blend of expertise, in-the-field experience, and character is a cornerstone of SMT Energy’s continued growth and success.
Aaron is our asset optimization and waste reduction guru, an industry-recognized operations leader with 16 years of experience in renewables.
Before joining SMT, Aaron was responsible for the management of a sizable fleet, encompassing more than 90 wind farms and the installation of over 4,700 GE wind turbines for GE Renewable Energy. There, he skillfully oversaw fleet management, professional training programs, site operations metrics, and projects-to-services transitions. Aaron now brings his formidable skill set and passion for everything renewable to SMT.
When he’s not harnessing the power of the wind, Aaron resides in the picturesque vistas of Eastern Idaho with his loving family and a spirited squadron of poodles and doodles.
Henry’s progression within the high-voltage sector highlights not just his adaptability and leadership, but also his hands-on expertise across various projects. Starting as a groundsman in 2010, he went on to add over 250 Megawatts to the Texas grid before joining SMT.
As our construction manager, he is focused on leading projects to advance sustainable energy solutions through battery storage. Off the clock, Henry spends his time with family and on the links enjoying golf.
Sam currently serves as the Director of Development with over 7 years experience in the renewable energy sector.
Prior to joining SMT, Sam managed the greenfield development of utility scale solar farms and battery energy storage facilities throughout multiple ISO’s. Sam has experience in project management across ERCOT, MISO, SPP, and ISONE.
Sam earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Energy Business & Finance from Penn State University in 2017.
Ramsey Ayass is an electrical power systems engineer with over 14 years of industry experience. Much of his career has been spent working with electric utilities, covering various roles including Transmission Planning, Generation Interconnection, Distribution Planning and Transmission Engineering. He has held leadership roles at San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), as well as Oncor Electric Delivery. For the last 8 years, he has specialized in resource integration, primarily in ERCOT, CAISO and the Western Interconnection. He had worked on Steady-State, Short Circuit, Stability and Post-Transient studies for CAISO Queue Clusters 5 Phase II through Cluster 11 Phase I. He was the Director of Energy Resources at Electric Power Engineers for 2 and a half years, before jumping into the developer world.
